Petition to
Orange County Board of County Commissioners

Why this petition matters

John Caporaletti, the owner of the Stoneybrook East Golf Course (SBEGC), is attempting to sell 14.5 acres of the course to Eden Multifamily and develop a 250 unit apartment complex on a portion of Hole #9, the driving range, practice green, and maintenance building. In order to do this, he must get approval from the Orange County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) to rezone this land from Parks & Rec to Medium Density Housing

On January 28, 2020 the BCC heard the voices of District 4 concerned residents and voted to deny the Land-Use designation change. The proposed apartments are inconsistent and incompatible with the Stoneybrook East PD.

The golf course owner is in the process of appealing this decision and the SBE HOA Board is reportedly supporting the appeal of the proposed apartments even though nothing has changed since the Jan '20 vote and has nothing from the community that indicates SBE homeowners are in favor of supporting development.

East Orlando and particularly the Alafaya corridor that runs from Eastwood through Avalon Park and now extending down Innovation Way has seen explosive growth. More development is on the way and our Schools, roads, and infrastructure are being compromised. Schools are overcrowded - Timber Creek High School is more than 1,000 students over capacity

WE DO NOT NEED MORE DEVELOPMENT.

The Orange County Board of County Commissioners denied this Land-Use change in 2020. The only thing that has changed since 2020 is more growth in our area. Make your opinion known to preserve our open spaces and prevent Apartments to be built in a place that makes zero sense and sign this petition.

Thanks for your efforts to protect the most beautiful place to live in Orlando.
