Let me start by stating that I love my school, and I am very grateful for all it has done for me. However, I would like to bring to light that since classes have moved online, there is a significant financial difference between residential courses and online courses. As we adjust academically, many of us also have to adjust financially and are still paying for residential classes that we are not attending. There is also the fact that many are not staying on ORU's campus. Therefore we are not putting into use the facilities and resources that we previously paid for at the beginning of the school year.
As someone who is directly affected by this, I am asking that this issue be acknowledged. As well as some monetary reimbursement for the remainder of the semester takes place. I am not asking for a full refund, that is not reasonable; however, I do ask that the difference in residential and online be taken into account and considered. I realize that there is a lot of change and decisions being made, but let us acknowledge this issue. If the reimbursement is not possible, I ask that it still be addressed.
It should also be brought to light that not all classes are being held over zoom. Some courses are merely assigning weekly assignments, which, again, is not what was paid for previously. Additionally, although there are plenty of students staying on campus, there is a good amount that is at home or in other places outside of ORU. Therefore, we are no longer using the facilities that we once did, again, something we paid for.
