Petition for Anne Arundel County Parents, Community Members, Community Stakeholders and Service Providers in Opposition to the NEW Shift in School Start times voted on by Anne Arundel County Board of Education. 

August 2022 a group of Anne Arundel County residents filed an appeal to reverse the AACPS BOE decision; and request consideration to revert to the 2021-22 school times.  We believe the  AACPS Board of Education’s decision was arbitrary and unreasonable and did not allow for the discovered needs of the entire system.  The board neglected an ACTIVE motion to create and involve a Citizens Advisory Committee, which would have given each cluster a voice in this major change.  

If the decision by AACPS BOE has negatively effected your family in regards to, your child’s safety, economic impact, after-school childcare, transportation or lack of, work hours, commute to work, after-school activities, etc. we want to hear from you.  

Your Voice Matters! Please leave your story so we can gather community input. We are hopeful that Maryland State Board of Education will bring the appeal to discussion at the next meeting scheduled for December 6, 2022. 

This fight is not over!  We as a county can do better, and we have to do better, for the safety of our children.
