Oppose Warner Bros Pictures Decision to pull Beetlejuice Beetlejuice from Theaters

The Issue

36 years ago, Mr. Tim Burton was a director who was already starting to become well known due to his unique talents in the filmmaking industry. In that same year, in concision with Warner Bros Pictures, Burton's classic film "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" was released. The film told a story about two recently deceased ghosts named Adam and Barbara Maitland who find themselves enlisting the help of the bio-exorcist "Beetlejuice" (Michael Keaton). The film ended up being a success in both the domestic and the international markets respectfully, earning according to IMDb "$74,849,333 worldwide" (IMDb 2024). Around a few years earlier or before, Tom Cruise's hit "Top Gun" was also released which like "Beetlejuice" ended up being a success and a staple of the 80s.

30+ years later in 2022, two years before the release of "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice"; the sequel to the first "Top Gun" film titled "Top Gun Maverick" was released, which again, according to IMDb was a major success grossing an estimated $1 billion + in box office profit. Upon seeing this statistic, this led me to believe and hypothesize that movies that either a: take longer to make the sequel to; or b: are nostalgic, are ones that are almost if not, bound to be bigger successes.

Cue the time to 2 years later, where Tim Burton and Warner Bros finally announced "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" which meant the return of the famous bio-exorcist. Upon the film's release on September 6 and moving forward to the present day, it broke numerous records and according to a few sources managed to hold the number one box office spot for 3 weeks, with many  people (especially from personal eyewitness account) still going to the theaters to see the film compared to other new films.

Therefore, it came to a huge surprise that despite "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
's continuing success in the theaters along with impressive records, that Warner Bros suddenly decided to put the film out to digital rather sooner than expected. Although i likely cannot speak for everyone else, it is a huge disappointment to see Warner Bros shelf a successful film to digital so quickly. This decision for some may be a bit hasty and may slam the brakes on a chance to see it in theaters.

With that being said, i would like to ask the Warner Bros Pictures Company to reconsider their decision to suddenly move the film to digital while keeping in mind its current success by allowing "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" to remain in theaters for a bit more longer of a time period to see where things go and add more opportunities for those who couldn't see the film in theaters due to work related issues or other things to go see it. If this is not possible, i ask Warner Bros to consider re-releasing the film in light of the Halloween season and the film's connection to the holiday.
