Oppose To Fast Fashion
The Issue
What is Fast Fashion?
It is a term referring for rapid fabrication or making of inexpensive, low quality, and cheap, clothing and garments mimicking popular styles of some famous brands or fashion labels. In short, fast fashion is a quick and mass producing of garments or clothing lines that are affordable and budget-friendly.
.Why it should be stopped?
It causes a big harm to our environment especially our natural resources, culture, and climate change, etc… Because of fast fashion, our natural resources are slowly depleting. It pollutes our water and air, produce many wastes because of a lot of garments or clothes are being discarded or thrown out.
Nowadays, microfibers from synthetic textiles can be found everywhere. When we wash polyester and other synthetic clothing, little plastic fragments break off and end up in the drain. Microfibers contaminate streams as well as aquatic life
Scientists have discovered these microfibers in almost every form of food and beverage, from fish to beer. They travel in the air for kilometres before settling throughout the world. There is no such thing as a safe place, and because humans are at the top of the food chain, we are more vulnerable to eating microfibers than animals.
This general pollution demands an action. Therefore, governments must put restrictions on synthetic textile production and implement laws to filter out microfibers at washing facilities. And companies should look into alternative fabrics that generate less plastic waste. Meanwhile, users can use special laundry bags to collect fibers. However, institutional change is required to address this developing yet widespread problem.
