Oppose the West Fork Housing Development in Empire, CO
The Issue
Petition Opposing West Fork Village
A developer, AVORIAZ LLC, desires to cram 21 new homes on a 3.2 acre parcel of land in the middle of the small, mountain town of Empire, CO.
The Town of Empire's Master Plan confirms the following mission statement and those who live in Empire and its surrounding areas insist that the board defend and protect this objective.
Master Plan statement: The residents of the Town of Empire wish to preserve, protect, and enhance the historic integrity and small, mountain town atmosphere of Empire and the Empire Valley. Together they strive to guide the future growth and development in town and the valley. The community desires growth that is slow, managed, fiscally sound, and that does not impact the town in a negative way.
Ask yourself these questions about the developer's plan to build high density housing on a 3.2 acre parcel of land that sits in the middle of our town.
• Does it protect the small, mountain town atmosphere of Empire? NO
• Would the growth be small and managed? NO!
• Is it fiscally sound? NO!
• Does it enhance the community in any way? NO!
• Would it improve fire protection, water use, traffic congestion? NO!
Should the Empire, CO town government authorize a variance on May 31, reducing road width from Empire’s code to allow this development of 21 homes to move forward? NO!!!
The photo shows our quaint little mountain town, and the circled area is the 3.2-acre hill that the developers desire to cram with 21 homes.
Signing this petition acknowledges that you are opposed to the West Fork Village Development Plan in Empire, CO.
