The Issue

For countless generations, Conisbrough Parks has served as a sanctuary of outstanding natural beauty. Rich with history and environmental significance, this cherished green space has become a vital part of our community's wellbeing and connection to nature. Now, it faces a threat from unexpected quarters - a proposed solar farm which will increase dramatically the possibility of flooding to already vulnerable areas of Conisbrough.

While we recognize the importance of renewable energy in our fight against climate change, we firmly believe that Conisbrough Parks is not the place for this development. This area, steeped in history and teeming with wildlife, should be preserved for future generations to learn from and enjoy, not commercialized.

There is a growing concern about the potential short and long-term impacts of such a project on the parks, including damage to the habitat of numerous organisms, disruption of their life cycles, and irreversible destruction of the park's natural beauty. The UK hosts around 1,000 other locations suitable for solar farm development that aren't sites of significant environmental and historic importance (Natural England).

We, therefore, call on landowners not to sell or lease the land for profit and HM Government to reject any applications for solar farms in Conisbrough Parks. We urge our decision-makers to consider the long-term impacts of their actions and to act today to preserve our natural heritage.

We ask, not only as concerned citizens, but also as stewards of our environment, that efforts are made to find alternative, less disruptive locations for these necessary renewable energy developments. Sign this petition to protect our precious Conisbrough Parks.
