The Issue

We, the undersigned residents of Dunmoor Estates and Prairie Ponds, strongly oppose the proposed boundary change that would reassign our children from Walkers Grove Elementary to Lincoln Elementary.

This school boundary change proposal is flawed for three key reasons:

It's Geographically Illogical: Our neighborhoods are not adjacent to the Lincoln zone. This reassignment will result in longer, less efficient bus routes, increasing costs and commute times for students, contrary to the goal of "improving transportation."

It's a Short-Sighted Solution: The study projections show Lincoln Elementary will be at 100.7% capacity by 2029/30 (Page 28 of the RSP report). Moving our children to a school that will be overcrowded in a few years is not a long-term fix and will only lead to another disruptive boundary change later. This fails the Board's top criterion of "Duration of Boundaries."

It Splits Our Established Community: The District's own Guiding Principles state that "Neighborhoods/Planning areas are influential." For years, our neighborhoods have been a core part of the Walkers Grove community. This move severs the social and support networks our families rely on, damaging the neighborhood cohesiveness the District claims to value.

We urge the Plainfield School District 202 Board of Education to reject this specific element of the boundary proposal and find a solution that keeps our neighborhoods united at Walkers Grove.

We will be presenting these signatures to the Board of Education before their final vote.
