We Oppose the Eden's Dreams LLC Cannabis Project in Rural Templeton

We petition the SLO County Board of Supervisors to deny this project in consideration of the Appeal (APPL-CNBS2025-00001) to be heard on July 15, 2025 Board of Supervisors Public Hearing.

From the peaceful rural residential homes in the S. El Pomar, Templeton area, to the ranches where children play and horses & cattle roam, our quiet rural residential healthy lifestyle is under threat. As residents, we are threatened by the proposed commercial Cannabis Project DRC2018-00183 at 4339 S. El Pomar Rd. owned by Eden’s Dreams LLC.

The operation, an LLC with primary owners being out-of-state entities, brings detrimental smell and noise levels to our environment that is known for serene country living. Natural resources are also at risk with an increasing concern about water scarcity in our arid region.

Growing and harvesting is planned to take place year-round without respite from the detrimental effects.

The stench from Cannabis odor will be a part of our daily lives should this project be approved, likely changing the fresh air that defines our environment to odorous air that can impact our health. This project proposal fails to disclose adequate details of the cannabis facility’s proposed cannabis odor mitigation systems beyond an “air scrubbing system”. Air scrubbing systems are industrially noisy and notable for not completely removing the stench and toxicity that will be released outside that will impact the neighboring area.  

What was once an idyllic haven will be replaced by fears for our safety and related risk of criminal activity linked to the cannabis business like this project. News reports indicate that cannabis farms and facilities are frequent targets of theft and other serious criminal activities.  This business will have security protection, but our adjacent residences will not as criminal activity may cross surrounding properties.

Most importantly, this project will damage the quality of life we have so valued. We call this our home, not the "Templeton Cannabis Business Complex". This project will distort the character of our area, ravaging the rural charm in favor of commercial drug-related encroachment.

It comes down to neighborhood incompatibility and how it directly affects our lives. Development should not come at the expense of our valued way of life. 

We request the County of SLO Supervisors step in and halt The Eden's Dreams LLC Cannabis Project DRC2018-00183, at 4339 S. El Pomar Rd., Templeton, once and for all.  Please hear and respect the voice of your constituents in the community and prevent the stated lifestyle, health and safety risks this Project poses on us.
