Oppose the new Papamoa college school rules
Oppose the new Papamoa college school rules
The issue
At the start of 2023, Pāpāmoa college implemented new school rules to 'benefit students' in their learning and attendance. These new school rules include; "No hair dye of unnatural hair colour, no piercings (with the exception of earrings), shoes must be plain black, no nail polish, no non-school branded hats, and no facial hair. (cultural exemptions apply)
Earlier this month (June) A student has been suspended from Pāpāmoa College for having a beard, despite it “representing his family’s culture”. This has also affected a few other anonymous students, who has piercings or hair dye for confidence and Self-esteem reasons.
Signing this petition will help us students make Iva Ropati and other teachers acknowledge that we want the new school rules to be taken away.
