KOSA (stands for kids online safety act, despite not protecting children online at all) is a bill that would ban any and ALL lgbtq+, POC, disabled, basically any content that isn’t white cis men. (Video above explains it better than me!!!)

It would make every minors internet access GONE if we do not do something about this bill. We need to stop this NOW before it’s too late and our internet access is gone forever. it’s going to be voted on September 5th. However this isn’t the last time it will be voted on, but it could get put further, finally making it go to capital city where it will probably get passed, so we need to stop it now. Please, call your senators, make a petition/sign this petition, or any petition against the Kosa bill. This bill will also allow your parents to see what you are doing online, for kids (especially queer and trans kids

PLEASE don’t let this get passed. I have friends here and I would and many other minors NEED to have privacy online. I genuinely (and again, MANY others) will be forced to move away from the US. This will also affect minors bordering the US. So please, if you are a minor (ESPECIALLY LGBTQ+!!!) Please sign this or any other bill opposing KOSA and or make a petition.

We don’t need censorship. We need ACTUAL safety, which is NOT what the KOSA bill is at all. 

Lawmakers have reintroduced the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), a dangerous censorship bill that would give the government unprecedented control over the internet.

KOSA won’t make kids more safe. Instead, it’ll put youth in danger by preventing them from accessing resources they need. Lawmakers concerned about online safety should reject KOSA and instead work to protect all internet users from abusive tech companies by passing a Federal data privacy law. 

Send a letter to your lawmakers now and tell them to reject KOSA.

KOSA uses two methods to “protect” kids, and both of them are awful.

First, KOSA would pressure platforms to install filters that would wipe the net of anything deemed “inappropriate” for minors. This = instructing platforms to censor, plain and simple. Places that already use content filters have restricted important information about suicide prevention and LGBTQ+ support groups, and KOSA would spread this kind of censorship to every corner of the internet. It’s no surprise that anti-rights zealots are excited about KOSA: it would let them shut down websites that cover topics like race, gender, and sexuality.

Second, KOSA would ramp up the online surveillance of all internet users by expanding the use of age verification and parental monitoring tools. Not only are these tools needlessly invasive, they’re a massive safety risk for young people who could be trying to escape domestic violence and abuse. 

90+ rights groups agree that KOSA is dangerous and updates to the 2023 version won’t and can’t address the big problems with the bill.

KOSA (significa ley de seguridad para niños en línea, a pesar de no proteger a los niños en línea en absoluto) es un proyecto de ley que prohibiría TODOS los contenidos lgbtq+, POC, discapacitados y básicamente cualquier contenido que no sea de hombres cis blancos. (¡¡¡El vídeo de arriba lo explica mejor que yo!!!)

El acceso a Internet de todos los menores desaparecería si no hacemos algo al respecto. Necesitamos detener esto AHORA antes de que sea demasiado tarde y nuestro acceso a Internet desaparezca para siempre. Se votará el 5 de septiembre. Sin embargo, esta no es la última vez que se votará, pero podría extenderse más y finalmente llegar a la ciudad capital, donde probablemente se aprobará, por lo que debemos detenerlo ahora. Por favor, llame a sus senadores, haga una petición/firme esta petición o cualquier petición contra el proyecto de ley Kosa. KOSA utiliza dos métodos para "proteger" a los niños, y ambos son horribles.

No sorprende que los fanáticos anti-derechos estén entusiasmados con KOSA: les permitiría cerrar sitios web que cubren temas como raza, género y sexualidad.

En segundo lugar, KOSA aumentaría la vigilancia en línea de todos los usuarios de Internet ampliando el uso de herramientas de verificación de edad y monitoreo parental. Estas herramientas no sólo son innecesariamente invasivas, sino que también suponen un enorme riesgo para la seguridad de los jóvenes que podrían estar intentando escapar de la violencia y el abuso domésticos.

Más de 90 grupos de derechos humanos coinciden en que KOSA es peligroso y que las actualizaciones a la versión 2023 no solucionarán ni podrán solucionar los grandes problemas del proyecto de ley.
