Oppose the false anti-semitic accusations of Bartlett High School Administration!
The Issue
Just this past Friday evening Bartlett High school’s interim principal sent out a school-wide email regarding a picture that was printed in the 2023-2024 school year yearbook. The image was described to be “offensive” and said to be containing text regarded as “antisemitic”. The administration has decided to halt all yearbook sales and distribution while they “work to remove the page with the photo.” The image at hand is a picture that was taken at the Bartlett High School’s annual Multicultural Festival(MCF) hosted by the Bartlett Multicultural Organization for Student Access, Inclusiveness and Community(MOSAIC) which is unaffiliated with any religious organization. The annual MCF is similar to cultural events at other high schools across the state and even the country where students are encouraged to show out and represent their culture/country. The picture which was deemed “antisemitic” was from the flag walk that occurs at the end of the event where students are allowed to walk with their flags to highlight the diversity and recognize the different countries from which students are from. The picture itself was of students walking with Palestine flags and signs. The signs read: "In our hundreds, in our millions, we are all Palestinian" and "from the river to the sea, Palestine is Arab." Another sign features a quote by Malcolm X, a renowned American civil rights activist, but it's partially obscured, leaving only "1000s of years ago - Malcolm X" visible. None of these signs were created or displayed with malevolent intent and antisemitic prejudice, and there is nothing inherently offensive about them. We would like to spread awareness about this petty accusation and discrimination towards students at our school which may disrupt the so called “inclusivity factor” which the school and school district so proudly claim to have. Please share this story so that we reach a wider audience and do your part by signing this petition so that appropriate action can be taken!
