Oppose the Ban on Sale or Use of Petrol and Diesel Vehicles

The Issue

I, like many others, have no interest in owning an electric vehicle. The cost alone is a significant barrier for us. I myself am a pensioner on low income and could not afford to switch to an electric vehicle. Our choice to continue using petrol and diesel vehicles should be respected and protected. It's not just about preference; it's about financial feasibility.

It has come to our attention that there are government attempts to ban the sale or use of petrol and diesel vehicles. This move would severely impact those who cannot afford the high upfront costs associated with electric cars. According to data from Kelley Blue Book, as of December 2020, the average cost of a new passenger vehicle was $40,573 while the average price for new electric vehicles was significantly higher at $55,600.

Moreover, not all areas are equipped with sufficient charging infrastructure which makes owning an electric car less practical in certain regions. We believe that until such time as these issues are addressed adequately by governments and manufacturers alike - affordability and infrastructure - it is unjust to impose such bans.

We urge you to stand with us against any attempt by government entities to ban the sale or use of petrol and diesel vehicles without providing viable alternatives for all citizens regardless of their economic status or geographical location. Sign this petition today!
