In 2007, the Yakima Valley Fair and Rodeo Arena was named after my grandparents, Ben and Sharon Fisher, in recognition of their tireless efforts and dedication. Yesterday, the Yakima Valley Fair and Rodeo announced they had changed the name. They also stated they would be renaming all the memorials this year, so this is a petition to oppose these changes. 

My grandparents played an instrumental role in adding the rodeo component to the fair in 2001. The rodeo would not exist without them. Tragically, my grandpa passed away two years ago, and it’s deeply hurtful to witness the renaming of the arena. The fair board did not consult the families impacted by this change. 

Their legacy deserves to be persevered, and the rodeo community should continue to recognize their immense impact. Thank you for signing and for your time.
