Oppose the annexation and re-zoning in Rockvale, TN

Oppose the annexation and re-zoning in Rockvale, TN
The Issue
This annexation/rezoning issue will be heard by the Murfreesboro City Counil at 6:00pm on Thursday, January 8th at City Hall located at 111 W. Vine Street, Murfreesboro. I urge all interested parties to attend in person in order to send a strong message of unity regarding our opposition to this and similar annexation/rezoning actions.
Ken Jacobsen
As a resident of Rockvale who lives near the proposed annexation and re-zoning site, I wish to protect the tranquil, scenic atmosphere of our rural community against the urban sprawl of nearby Murfreesboro. Approval of the proposed annexation and re-zoning of 27.9 acres in Rockvale for the purpose of developing a Planned Residential District comprised of 66 detached single-family dwellings and 32 attached single-family townhomes would degrade the quality of life our community holds dear.
This proposal threatens not only the serene beauty and peace that Rockvale is known for, but would also lead to increased congestion and noise, affecting residential privacy and forever altering the cherished rural charm of our community. The expansion would necessitate an extension of Murfreesboro’s infrastructure, thereby imposing additional tax burdens on its residents — many of whom oppose high-density residential living.
Studies have shown that such expansions can lead to declines in property values and deter new families looking for the quiet allure of rural living. With Murfreesboro's existing growth challenges, further stretching its infrastructure may detract from the well-being of both current and future residents.
Let us rally together to ensure our voices are heard. We call upon local leaders to carefully reconsider and reject this proposal. By safeguarding Rockvale's future, we can continue to nurture a safe, harmonious, and picturesque environment for the generations to come.
Please sign this petition to preserve the essence of our beloved Rockvale before it's too late.
