Oppose Sparman Property Rezone / LUA2023-0073
The Issue
This petition is for those that oppose the proposed zoning change of Sparman Property Rezone / LUA2023-0073. This rezone would allow the building of 98 town homes adjacent to single family home zoned neighborhoods, essentially making a large single multi zone neighborhood. Comments are due to the city by May 23rd at which time the zoning commission will make a recommendation to the City Council. Lake Stevens City Council made a mistake with the Pellerin development that allowed 15’ walls to be erected on the property lines of homes, changing future set back requirements. Don’t allow the city council to make another mistake by rezoning Sparman from R6 to R8-12 and negatively impact our quality of life, again.
Those signing this petition support the position that zoning should be similar to adjoing neighborhoods of Watermarke and Quill Cove. We encourage the city to engage in productive discussions with the community to find a reasonable solution that supports similar zoning of adjacent neighborhoods as part of the master and community planning of Lake Stevens.
We request a pre hearing discussion about greenbelts, community parks, parking, and traffic/parking impact. This past winter we saw excessive run off from neighborhoods under construction leading to property damage and request a discussion about stormwater run off and environmental/wildlife impact by removing old growth with new build using non impervious materials.
