Stillwater's schools may shift start times in 2024-2025:

• Elementary schools to 7:45 am - 2:15 pm (1 hr earlier)
• Middle schools to 8:35 am - 3:05 pm (1 hr later)
• High school to 8:45 am - 3:15 pm (1 hr later)

With our three children currently enrolled in Stillwater elementary, middle, and high schools, we strongly oppose the disruptive proposed start time changes. Here is why:

• Early 2:15 pm elementary school dismissal will force kids into after-school clubs, financially burdening parents
• Lack of after-school clubs for elementary age kids across district in general is a known problem even today, when kids are done with school at 3:15 pm 
• Delayed start times for higher grades will shorten homework hours due to after-school activities being extended into evenings
• Decisions impacting over 8,000 students and their families should be community-driven. We need a transparent voting system in place to gauge the majority's desires and obtain quantitative data
