Rowan University has changed the graduation regalia  colors from the traditional black, to brown and gold. The school did this without alerting the students, nor giving them the choice to consent to this decision, let alone an opportunity to voice their opinions on the matter. The graduating class of 2023 had expected to wear the traditional black regalia robes for graduation, as it is a symbol of their hard work, dedication, and journey throughout their college experience. It has been a tradition for all graduating seniors, since Rowan opened its doors. However, without allowing the graduating seniors, or the Rowan student body in general to vote whether or not they wanted the colors to be changed or kept, was withheld. Rowan University  brought it upon themselves to make the decision. Considering the seniors are paying to graduate, on top of paying for the regalia, there should’ve been a right to deny the change that was not wanted, nor needed. Majority of the graduating class of 2023 do not want the colors to change to brown and gold, this petition is to oppose Rowan‘s decision to change the colors, and to make Rowan return the traditional graduation regalia colors back to its original and meaningful color that every graduating, senior, before the class of 2023, had earned the right to wear, as a sign of their completion of a chapter of their lives.
