The Issue

Road median installation on East Emmaus Ave is not just a matter of urban planning; it's a critical public safety issue that affects our community deeply. The proposed median would redirect traffic from a state road onto residential single-lane streets. These streets, lacking both pavement markings and sidewalks, are simply not designed to handle this increased volume of traffic. This rerouting would happen within ONE MILE of two schools, putting our children at significant risk.

The safety of our children must come first. Without adequate infrastructure, residential streets become hazardous, creating blind spots for drivers, limited space for children to walk safely, and an increased likelihood of accidents. Imagine our kids walking or biking to school along roads that were never meant to handle such dense car and foot traffic. The potential for disaster is high.

Furthermore, the lack of pavement markings further jeopardizes safety. These markings are crucial for guiding drivers, especially during low visibility conditions or at night. Their absence increases the potential for collisions, especially with the high volume of diverted traffic that a median would create.

We propose reconsidering this plan in favor of alternatives that enhance safety and infrastructure, and implementing traffic-calming measures that protect both drivers and pedestrians.

Also , median installation would permanently restrict access to over 400 homes in the Township, forcing residents to find alternate routes to their homes.

By opposing this road median installation, we stand together for the safety of our community, for the protection of our children, and for responsible city planning that prioritizes lives over logistics. Sign this petition to urge local officials to reevaluate this decision and seek solutions that truly serve the best interests of our neighborhoods.
