Oppose rezoning of 12703 Preston and McShann Road in Dallas

Oppose rezoning of 12703 Preston and McShann Road in Dallas
The Issue
McShann Road in Dallas, Texas, is more than just a street; it is home. Established in the 1960s, our neighborhood boasts deep roots and a rich history, where most residents are either original owners or their descendants. For decades, we have taken great pride in the peaceful, family-oriented community we've nurtured together. It is essential for us to maintain the integrity and safety that has been a hallmark of McShann Road.
However, recent developments threaten to upend the character of our neighborhood. At the corner of McShann and Preston Roads, a request has been made to rezone a single-family residential home at 12703 Preston Rd to a commercial lot, accompanied by plans for constructing 4 townhomes on this site. This home shares our street with 34 other one-story single-family residences, and such a drastic change would adversely affect the community's unity, safety, and charm.
The organization driving these changes shows no regard for the community's wishes and has already laid waste to three homes on McShann Road. We invite new homeowners who value and respect the essence of our neighborhood, but what is being proposed goes against this spirit and threatens to significantly alter the landscape of what we have cherished for decades.
Rezoning and additional high-density housing would inevitably lead to increased traffic, congestion, and potential safety hazards, disrupting the quiet lifestyle cherished by families here. We must stand together against these plans to ensure McShann Road remains a haven for its residents.
We urge city planners and local government officials to listen to the voices of the current residents. By signing this petition, you are helping us send a strong message: Our community's needs and history cannot be overlooked for commercial gain. Please help us preserve the integrity and safety of McShann Road. Sign this petition and support our fight to maintain the community we all love and call home.
