In February of 2023, the Port made it known that they are under contract to purchase property on Sunnyside Hill next to Whispering Hills development pending rezone for a heavy industrial park. The land is currently zoned for residential and commercial. After much resistance from the community, The Port went a head and submitted the rezone application under another title - Industrial Research Park. They still have the intention to apply for a variance to erect a biodiesel plant. This is yet another fabricated attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of our residence. No matter how they try to dress their pig, I mean project, their intention is still the same.

To leave no room for misunderstanding, we are starting a new petition with regards to their rezone request of Industrial Research Park so that The City of Pullman knows we, the people of Pullman and surrounding areas are opposed to industrial next to residential.

We are asking the city to oppose the rezone request. We the people don’t want to pay taxes for an industrial research park next to residential. We the people want to stay to the comprehensive plan. We the people don’t want a modge podge community. We the people are concerned about our health, safety, quality of life and property value.

Your signature on the original petition is still valid, however, we ask you also sign this one to make it abundantly clear to The City of Pullman you do not want an Industrial Research Park next to residential.
