On June 13, the City Aldermen of Chester County will cast their final vote on allowing an electrical substation to be built less than a 1/2 mile away from the school. This will not only negatively impact the children at school but the children in the surrounding neighborhoods. Please sign this petition. We do not want to condemn our children to unnecessary radiation exposure and the resulting health impacts.

World Health Organization: Substations emit EMF’s a form of radiation that has been classified as a possible carcinogen specifically childhood leukemia.

EMF Inspections Ltd states: Exposure to high levels of EMF radiation has been linked to several health risks, increased risk of cancer, changes in brain function, and DNA damage. 

Natitional Institute of Health states, “It is concluded that extremely low frequency magnetic field exposure may have a negative impact on the working memory of children...possibility of an association with acoustic neuroma.” Acoustic neuroma is a benign tumor of the inner ear.”  Most common symptoms are: Problems with balance, vertigo, headaches, confusion

Increased Traffic in School Zone 

Delayed drop off and pick up of children from school, Delayed school buses and Increased traffic for those who walk to/from school

Impact on Mental Health: Anxiety, stress, irritability and frustration

Impact on Physical Health: Hearing Damage: include tinnitus (persistent high-pitched ringing in the ears) and distorted hearing.
Increased blood pressure and higher rates of cardiovascular disease.

Noise pollution may indirectly contribute to cognitive impairment 

 The National Library of Medicine states, “Owing to the uncertainty in science regarding the minimum on non-ionizing radiation level below which no adverse health effects can occur, the precautionary approach is suggested, and it is recommended that EMF human exposure be kept to a minimum. “
