We, the people of Jolo, WV and surrounding communities and states, would like to address WV Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation and the Esteemed Parole Board Members
in this petition regarding the case of "The State of WV verses Angel Alberta Estep” pertaining to the death of 2 year old Bryce Adam Lee Vance, upcoming parole hearing.
Please allow this petition to represent our voices, and opinions, as citizens of McDowell County WV and people from all over who loved Bryce.
We, the people who sign this petition, would like to ask that Angel Estep NOT be released on parole, that she spend her entire sentence incarcerated, with no alternative, due to the heinous crime and it's affects on the victim, Bryce Adam Lee Vance, the victims family, many friends and the community. Angel Estep has shown no remorse for her actions that horrific Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020. Not once during the trial did she ever accept responsibility, even after all evidence was presented and beyond a reasonable doubt it was proven to be her that hit and ran completely over top 2 year old Bryce, then left the scene without out even stopping, to continue on with as she stated in her own words a normal day, there is nothing normal about her actions on that horrific Thanksgiving Day or anytime after. She has never even offered this family or the community even so much as an “I’m Sorry!”
This community as well as many others have been affected by this tragedy. Bryce was born 14 weeks early, he was only 2 pounds 5 ounces. His family as well as this community prayed hard and stood on faith for this baby to be with us. He was a rambunctious 2 year old, 36lb and 36 inch tall beautiful baby boy. He also fought so hard to be here to have his life taken so carelessly by Angel Estep.
Due to the actions of Angel Estep in the minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, even years after this horrific incident. Her actions are as if she doesn’t have a conscience. The fact that she and her sister walked around this child’s grieving family and loved ones at court laughing and carrying on like she had done nothing. Her lack of regard for human life, not just any human a 2 year old child. Her lack of empathy for this grieving mother. Her inability to accept and admit what she had done, even with all the evidence in front of her. By all means we all make mistakes, accidents happen, but any normal person with any conscience at all especially being a mother you would think would have tried to help this innocent baby. But did she? NO! Even when questioned by police minutes after the incident she denied any involvement or knowledge. At 24 hours after the incident still denying any involvement or knowledge. Seven days after the incident, after being offered a polygraph which she refused, she finally admits she may have hit something. 560 days later at her sentencing hearing still she won’t admit or accept any responsibility! Therefore due to her actions following the incident and her lack of acceptance of responsibility in this incident we the family, friends, and community of McDowell County and surrounding areas feel that Angel Estep would be a threat to society if released on parole after such a short time. She’s shown no regard for a human life at all.
Your Esteemed Members of the Parole Board, we ask that you take all this into consideration, each and every signature below, before you make your decision on whether to release Angel Estep. Please consider the severe impact that Angel Estep’s irresponsible actions has had, not only on the people of this community, but Bryce Vance's family, friends and so many others throughout McDowell County and surrounding areas. We ask in sincerity, that her parole be denied at this time and also to please delay the next parole hearing for as long as the law allows. We also ask that no credit be given for good behavior. We, the citizens who sign this petition ask that she remain incarcerated for the remainder of her 5 year sentence.
Thank you for your service to the state of West Virginia and for allowing this petition to be recognized as the voices of each person who has signed it.
Sincerely,
Bryce Adam Lee Vance’s Family, Friends, and Community
