Oppose Ontario's Return-to-Office Mandate

Oppose Ontario's Return-to-Office Mandate
The Issue
For years, I have been part of the Ontario Public Service and have seen firsthand how remote work enables me to deliver high-quality results while protecting my health, saving on commuting costs, and maintaining a work-life balance. The new government mandate to return to the office disrupts my ability to perform effectively, increases daily stress, and undoes the flexibility that's helped make me more productive and engaged in my role serving the public. This mandate isn't just a policy change; it's a step backward for those of us who thrive in a remote setting.
Ontario's decision to enforce a blanket return-to-office policy harms not only worker productivity but also the well-being and equity of its employees. Remote work has become an essential option, proven to be effective, cost-efficient, and environmentally beneficial. It supports those with disabilities and caregiving needs, offering a work environment that traditional office settings often cannot.
The abrupt change, made without meaningful consultation, undermines the spirit of collective bargaining which we as public servants hold dear. The lack of dialogue and consideration of worker input has understandably reduced morale throughout the workforce. This mandate also poses a significant risk to the quality of public service, as employees navigate increased daily stress and decreased job satisfaction.
We urge the Ontario government to reconsider and instead engage in dialogue that allows for flexible, negotiated work arrangements that apply proven best practices. Implementing such an inclusive approach not only benefits workers but also enhances service delivery to the public, aligning with modern workforce expectations and realities.
Help support Ontario workers in maintaining productive and equitable working conditions. Sign this petition and take a stand against policies that disregard the effectiveness and benefits of remote work.
Once the sugnatures exceed a good amount, will coordinate for a walkout to make sure our voice is heard.
