Oppose Ohio House Bill 754

Oppose Ohio House Bill 754
The Issue
As a woman and a mother of four beautiful children, I am deeply concerned about the implications of Ohio House Bill 754. While it may not affect my current situation, the potential consequences of this bill on future pregnancies for my children and their families are troubling. The decision to start a family is already a deeply personal and often stressful journey; adding state government intervention into this intimate aspect of our lives only compounds the burden.
We, the undersigned residents and supporters of the State of Ohio, strongly oppose House Bill 754 and call upon Ohio legislators to reject this invasive and harmful legislation.
House Bill 754 would require the registration of fetal deaths at all stages of pregnancy and create additional state tracking measures related to pregnancy outcomes after the detection of a fetal heartbeat. Opponents of this bill believe it represents a dangerous expansion of government oversight into deeply personal medical matters.
Ohio voters have already spoken on reproductive rights. This bill appears to go beyond those protections by creating new systems of documentation and surveillance surrounding pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth, and abortion care.
For many Ohio families, pregnancy loss is already emotionally devastating. Requiring additional reporting, documentation, and state involvement during moments of grief risks causing further trauma for parents and families.
We oppose HB 754 because:
• It creates serious concerns about medical privacy and government overreach.
• It increases fear and uncertainty surrounding miscarriage, stillbirth, and abortion care.
• It may discourage patients from seeking timely medical treatment due to fear of scrutiny or judgment.
• It places additional emotional burdens on grieving families during already traumatic experiences.
• It expands government involvement in private reproductive and medical decisions.
• It risks creating confusion and legal gray areas regarding reproductive healthcare rights already protected under Ohio law.
• It places bureaucratic requirements above compassion, dignity, and patient care.
This issue affects all Ohio families — women, spouses, future parents, healthcare workers, and children alike. Government power should never come at the expense of privacy, dignity, and bodily autonomy.
We respectfully urge Ohio lawmakers to reject House Bill 754 and protect the rights, privacy, and wellbeing of Ohio families.
