Oppose new Camden parking restrictions TMO2526-0020
The Issue
The recent parking order in the CA-F/G (Somers Town and Regent's Park) Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) of the London Borough of Camden has introduced new parking restrictions. These changes enforce Saturday controls between 8:30 am and 1:30 pm, which means that residents who previously enjoyed free parking during Saturdays now need to have a valid permit or pay the appropriate fees during these hours.
This abrupt change has created significant inconvenience for many of us who reside in Somers Town and Regent's Park. The ability to park freely on Saturdays was a valuable privilege, particularly for residents who may have limited mobility, visitors who come only on weekends, and for those who depend on their vehicles for weekend errands or family visits. The new measures not only add an unexpected financial burden on residents but also disrupt the harmony of our weekends.
It is crucial to question the necessity and timing of these new regulations, especially when other solutions could be considered. The extension of controlled hours seems to be an unjustified step, particularly in a community that has been enjoying these parking benefits for such a long time without significant issues.
We urge the Camden Council to reconsider this experimental traffic order and to explore alternative solutions that will not impose such a heavy burden on its residents. We suggest that the Council conduct a thorough review involving community input to determine a more balanced approach that can meet the needs of traffic management while respecting the established lifestyle of its citizens.
We strongly believe that open dialogue with the community can lead to more effective traffic solutions that don’t infringe upon resident privileges.
Please sign this petition to ensure our voices are heard and to advocate for a parking policy that respects the needs of Camden residents.
