We are members of Carmel Valley Ranch, a community that we hold dear. Recently, our monthly fees have been increasing without any corresponding enhancements from the club. This is not only unfair but also burdensome for many members who value this community space.

Carmel Valley Ranch has always been more than just a club to us; it's our second home, where we build bonds and create memories. However, the recent fee increases are making it harder for many of us to continue being part of this wonderful community.

We have had two 10% increases in monthly fees over the last two years. It has not been reflective of any improvements or additional services provided by the club in the prior year.  As members, we deserve transparency and fairness when it comes to how our dues are used and why they are increased.

We urge the management of Carmel Valley Ranch to reconsider these fee increases and work towards a solution that benefits all members equally. We believe in the value that Carmel Valley Ranch brings to our lives and want to ensure its accessibility for everyone who cherishes this place as much as we do.

Please sign this petition if you stand with us in seeking fair treatment from Carmel Valley Ranch management regarding monthly fee adjustments.

Miscellaneous detailed concerns:

• Culture at Ranch is one that focuses more on resort guests & employees, not members (Admin seems to be more resort guest & employee-centric and not member-centric).
• Rate increases far exceed inflation (10% increase 2 years in a row; 20% over 2 years). The rate increase should have been implemented AFTER renovations were completed.
• Facilities not well maintained with long-standing deferred maintenance: general safety concerns not addressed timely (sidewalks uneven trip hazard, golf carts without speed bumps near court areas) courts cracked, dirty (not cleaned in years), bathrooms, plumbing, locker areas and showers, outdoor furniture dirty not consistently wiped down.
• Proposed renovations not discussed/or done in consultation with or by members prior to decision making. Some proposed renovations are unnecessarily wasteful (e.g. fitness room flooring; relatively new building).
• No member appreciation barbecues x 3+ years; while employee appreciation barbecues at least 2 since COVID.
• NO member surveys done (never to our knowledge).  New GM made minimal effort to survey members; only select individuals.
• Parking area full during peak times (summer & holidays) as employees chronically park in non-designated areas. No consistent enforcement or accountability. This has been mentioned to admin many times over many years; employees still take up many spots.
• At times, admin is dismissive of serious concerns.
• Rate/member fees significantly more than similar clubs/resorts (CVAC, Chamisal, Pebble Beach, Spanish Bay)

Goals:

• 2023 rate increase put on HOLD (Increases should be tied to inflation) & reduced monthly dues during construction 
• Option to hold membership should we get sick/have an injury or are out of town for an extended period of time
• Add/create value for members on a regular basis
• Consult, and survey members regularly; NOT just select hand-picked members to serve on the committee.
• Regular maintenance/ & cleanliness of the facility; (courts, bathroom, locker room etc.)
• Avoid expensive remodels that are not needed
