Oppose Mechanical Slaughter: Uphold Halal Integrity with Hand Slaughter
The issue
Brinks Chicken to be Halal by Hand Slaughter Method Only:
Dear Brothers & Sisters in Islam - Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Baraktuh,
South Auckland Muslim Association (SAMA) as one of the largest Muslim organisations in New Zealand would like to start this petition. This is around the evolution of Brinks Chicken as a significant supplier catering to the needs of halal consumers. For a considerable time, Brinks Chicken has been a beacon for Muslim consumers seeking products aligned with their religious beliefs. Their commitment to hand slaughter has been instrumental in providing halal-certified options, fostering trust and loyalty within the Muslim community in New Zealand.
However, recent discussions about transitioning to mechanical slaughter have sparked concern among halal consumers. While acknowledging and recognizing Brinks Chicken's historical significance as a provider of hand-slaughtered halal products in New Zealand, the petition emphasises the importance of maintaining the integrity of halal practices.
The focus lies on upholding the values and principles intrinsic to halal consumption, which include compassion, respect for animal welfare, and adherence to Islamic teachings. By opposing the proposed shift to mechanical slaughter, the petition aims to preserve the authenticity and ethical standards that have long defined Brinks Chicken as a trusted source for halal products.
The community of South Auckland Muslim Association would like to acknowledge Brinks Chicken's contributions to the halal market while advocating for the continuation of hand slaughter to ensure the preservation of halal integrity. We want to emphasise collaboration and constructive dialogue, urging stakeholders to work together to uphold the values that both Brinks Chicken and the Muslim community hold dear.
Please urgently sign and share this petition if you want Brinks Chicken to continue the Halal by hand slaughtering method.
