Light Pollution-As acknowledged publicly, companies are interested in this site because of its highway visibility. It our belief, as evidenced by recent completed construction projects, that the Village of Hampshire does not have the laws in place to protect nearby residents from light pollution.  If this land is zoned manufacturing and annexed nearby homeowners could negatively be effected by the light created by signs, buildings and parking lots on this site.

Artficial light also has a dramatically negative effect on the world’s eco system. That is especially true for nocturnal animals such as the short eared owl that was spotted on the property. Research scientist Christopher Kyba explains “We are only beginning to learn what a drastic effect this has had on nocturnal ecology.”
