Oppose Key Food's Animal Abuse !

The Issue

I am writing as a concerned and loyal customer of Key Food to express my disappointment and concern regarding the lack of progress updates on their commitment to transition to cage-free eggs by 2025.

I am a strong advocate for ethical practices, including animal welfare, and the decision to source cage-free eggs is crucial for addressing the ethical treatment of animals within the food industry. Cage-free environments provide hens with the space and conditions to engage in natural behaviors, promoting their well-being and ensuring a more humane and sustainable food supply chain.

As a responsible and conscientious consumer, I supported Key Food based on their pledge to go cage-free by 2025. However, the absence of transparent updates on the progress of this commitment has left me and many other concerned customers feeling disheartened and betrayed.

Here are my two main reasons why going cage-free is important:

  • Animal Welfare: Cage systems represent some of the worst cruelty in egg production. Within battery cages, hens are crowded together, with little space for them to exercise properly, rest undisturbed, or perform their normal behaviors. Cage-free systems allow hens to express natural behaviors, such as spreading their wings, nesting, and perching. It's a step towards ensuring that animals are treated with respect and compassion.
  • Consumer Trust: Fulfilling promises made to consumers is vital for maintaining trust and loyalty. When a company commits to positive changes, it demonstrates a commitment to ethical practices that resonate with consumers who share those values.

We, the undersigned, urge Key Food to provide timely and transparent updates on the progress toward achieving a cage-free egg supply by 2025. We believe that their commitment to this goal reflects not only on their brand's values but also on their dedication to meeting the evolving expectations of their customers.

By taking immediate action and providing regular updates on the transition to cage-free eggs, Key Food can demonstrate leadership in ethical business practices and inspire other businesses to follow suit.

We look forward to seeing Key Food uphold its commitment to going cage-free by 2025 and setting an example for ethical and responsible business practices.
