Oppose J & J Investment Corporation & Newton Baker Crossing Environmental/Safety Issues

The Issue

I am a resident of campus East Wesleyan Pines Virginia Beach, Virginia. Also known as, Lake Edwards Off of Newtown and Baker Road. I am a person with a disability of Low Vision Impairment. Most of my travel is by foot and/or public transportation. I rely on the sidewalks, crosswalks, streets, and/or the intersections alongside, with smells, sounds, feel and the direction of the traffic, wind, and sun in my day to day travels to and from home.

I find it difficult to utilize the mobility Techniques/lessons that I have learnt by the Virginia Department of the Blind and Vision Impaired within my community due to the  urgent environmental and safety issues from the continuous congestion, parking, diesel fuel fumes, and traffic flow of 18 Wheelers and Tractor Trailers.
On two occasions while traveling by foot, once with my Infant grandchild and the other by myself. Traveling from south to north trucks parked on my left which blocked the sound of traffic flow in order to cross the street safely. I had to overextend myself out into the middle of the street and traffic from the right almost struck me and infant grandson.

The trucks are typically parked down from  Baker Road alongside the South side of Hampshire Lane ALL DOWN to Hampshire Way. These trucks are format and utilized as a Truck Stop. Prior to 18-Wheelers parking the, “No Parking” signs were alongside the south side of city street, however The “no parking“ signs have been moved with the arrows facing intersection going into and out of shopping center.
Our children are standing at four different bus stops for school, our Community/neighborhood childhood development center, and the people in the community of the Campus East Wesleyan Pines/Lake Edwards community people want something done before a child/people are hit by a 18 wheeler and/Or tractor trailer or buy an vehicle from someone in the community just simply  on their day-to-day routine.
