The Issue

Imagine living in a peaceful community where the serenity of nature embraces you each morning. This is what my neighbors and I experience living near our equestrian area and dog park. Our peaceful lifestyle is now threatened by the proposed construction of a pickleball court and an area for RC motorized cars. Not only would these new additions generate constant high-pitched noises that disrupt our tranquility, but they also pose significant risks to the safety and well-being of our community.

Pickleball courts and RC motorized car zones, with their nonstop repetitive noise, make it difficult for people to relax, affecting not just our human residents but also our beloved animals. Horses can become startled by sudden loud noises, leading to dangerous situations for both the animals and riders. Similarly, dogs, known for their acute hearing, may develop stress or anxiety, preventing them from enjoying their routine visits to the park.

In addition to the noise pollution, such recreational facilities will lead to increased traffic, making our once calm rural roads busier and less safe for pedestrians, riders, and cyclists. The unique rural charm and atmosphere, which have made our community a desirable place to live, are at risk of being overshadowed by this intrusive development.

This center serves as a critical evacuation zone for livestock during regional disasters as was proven very recently in the Sandy fire. This park is an irreplaceable asset. Our community has dozens of alternative sports venues, but only one dedicated equestrian center

We urge local authorities to reconsider these plans and explore alternative solutions that do not jeopardize our community's tranquility and safety.  Options include redeveloping existing urban spaces better suited for such recreational activities.

We, the community, urge officials to reject proposals for pickleball courts and RC car tracks at the Equestrian Center. While we support sharing this space with the community garden and dog park, introducing high-impact activities poses severe safety risks.

By signing this petition, you stand with us  in this endeavor to safeguard our living environment and heritage by maintaining the park in its current natural state and stop the ill-suited development in our community.
