OPPOSE CHRIS MINNS’ UNREASONABLE PHONE BAN ACROSS NSW

OPPOSE CHRIS MINNS’ UNREASONABLE PHONE BAN ACROSS NSW
The issue
Parents and caregivers slave away through countless hours of the week, just to raise money for the foundational support of their family. Before they know it, around half of their money is lost to taxes. I repeat - workers are left with 50% of their income to support, maintain and add recreational value to their respective households.
So, spending a great amount of money to buy their children a phone must be quite an informed decision, right?
It is well within parents' and caregivers' rights to be able to provide their children - whom they are legally liable for - with communication devices for use wherever and whenever they are away from home. Students and their households are the biggest stakeholders in this situation; as a high-school student myself I can assure you that my phone has become one of the most important assets for communication and damage control.
Additionally, the main motive behind this unreasonable program is to allow high schoolers a greater sense of morale and sensibility when it comes to device use. Yes, Minns, I acknowledge that phones are not always used responsibly, but if you limit the variable altogether students will not be able to develop a sound understanding as to why limiting phone use is so essential. Does our newfound premier of NSW really believe that as soon as students graduate they will be equipped with an amplified sense of responsibility without any training at all? I, for one, find that rather than limiting the opportunity of illicit phone use fully, surveillance should be further ameliorated along with the repercussions it bears. Will this not be more effective when it comes to allowing high schoolers a greater sense of morale and sensibility regarding device use?
Australia is $36.9 billion in debt, yet Minns probes the use of supermagnets, lock boxes and other high-tech mechanisms to enforce his plan. These will be undeniably expensive. In a world of inflation and work opportunity shortages, our premier's main focus is the petty issue of phone use in high school students. Minns is willing to add yet more responsibilities on the shoulders of already underpaid staff, for a cause that the majority is opposed to as evident in the numbers of this petition.
Students have already devised plans and loopholes in the probed plan. All this is teaching the civilians of NSW is the blatant disregard of the greater good.
I urge you to consider, Chris Minns, our newfound NSW premier, if a fourteen year old can see the shortcomings of your plan so easily, what is limiting you from doing the same?
