Oppose building houses in exchange for Arts Hub at Risca Youth Centre

Attention all of Risca - Risca Youth Centre Update

I want to make everyone aware that Risca youth Centre is being (has been) given up by the Caerphilly Youth Service. This building is currently also used by some community groups in the daytime.

As the Brooklands site is currently under consideration with respect to its future use (very probably housing) I want to let you know that the building could be sacrificed (demolished) as part of the council plans. To knock it down would be an absolute travesty, it is in a very good state of repair. It comprises a very large hall, a common area which currently has two pool and a full snooker table in situ, offices and a full kitchen. It would be ideal for community use.

That being said, we are pushing for a Valley Arts Centre to take the place of the housing plans. A meeting within the Senedd has taken place and an MS member is assisting us to a £100k+ fund to be invested into our community.

Any support towards saving our community would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
