Tomorrow is the big day! The City Council will meet and decide whether or not to rezone the area in front of Laurel Elementary, in order to build a Raising Cane’s drive thru restaurant there. That specific land has a 1988 Conditional Use Permit (CUP) that zones that area for professional businesses only, not fast food drive-thrus.
This is (hopefully) the last time I ask you to email the City Council with your comments and concerns.
Please take a few moments and write to the Brea City Council by emailing the City Clerk’s Office at cityclerksgroup@cityofbrea.net by 2pm tomorrow, Tues, Feb 2. Your comments will be summarized aloud and recorded at the City Council Meeting.
Let’s show that we care about our community! Let’s show that we care about student safety. Let’s send a message that this specific location isn’t a good fit for that type of business, especially because of the 1988 CUP. Please make your comment as personal as possible. Our collective voices will be as powerful as you make it.
Also, if you’d like to view the City Council meeting via Zoom, you must contact City Staff at (714) 990-7756 or cityclerksgroup@cityofbrea.net no later than 2pm on Tue, Feb 2nd to obtain the Zoom Meeting ID number and password. Teleconference attendees will participate via audio only and will be muted until recognized at the appropriate time by the Council - video display will be disabled. The meeting will also be broadcast live at www.cityofbrea.net.
The final updated petition will be submitted to the City Council tomorrow, until then, feel free to share it one last time: https://www.change.org/safelaurel
I hope to update you all with good news soon. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Rod
