Oppose Attack on Education by Arizona's Legislature!

When real Arizonans are getting active on developing a well-educated population to fuel our economy and improve our quality of life, the GOP controlled House of Appropriations Committee  has passed House Bill 2675 requiring most students at Arizona's public universities to contribute at least $2,000 annually toward their tuition.  The bill is sponsored by Representative John Kavanagh.

HB 2675 places an unfair burden on too many students who have applied for and earned scholarships. It represents an enormous intrusion by government into the lives of students and ultimately creates barriers to  attain the dream of college education.

This bill violates the AZ Constitution which states “college education should be nearly as free as possible" for every student.

Please sign the petition and make your  strong oppotition to HB2675 be heard.

Letter to
Arizona House Majority Leader Steve Court
Arizona Senate President Steve Pierce
State Legislator John Kavanagh
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Arizona Legislature.

Stop HB2675

HB2675 is an attack on education, specially on students who are recipients of scholarships.

The Arizona Tea Party Legislature wants to impose 2,000 dollars on undergraduate students at ASU, NAU, U of A, aiming to put the dream of higher education away from most students.

Even when they are trying to carve exceptions to make it more palatable, this bill intends to give a full blow to education in AZ. HB 2675 places an unfair burden on too many students who have applied for and earned scholarships. It represents an enormous intrusion by government into the lives of students, who should not be subjected to random legislation that forces upon them unnecessary debt and ultimately creates barriers to college.

Furthermore this bill violates the AZ Constitution that states “college education should be nearly as free as possible" for every student.
