The Issue
Back around when Covid ended, the devious lick trend arose. Space coast was no exception to the destruction. Bathrooms were then locked, monitored heavily and a sign in sheet was added. Since then the destruction is long past. The bathrooms remain monitored and locked. The problem with this is that only 3 bathroom sets must be adequate for over a thousand Space Coast students, that is 13 toilets for females and 8 for males (not including urinals which is 7) make the total facilities 27. Lunch time is the worst of it. “The horde” as custodians call it. If you have to go during the middle of lunch good luck, you’ll be waiting no less than ten minutes. There is no reason that students who just entered the stall are having their doors banged and rattled while an admin screams at them to get out. There is no reason we should have lines wrapped down the hallway to use the one bathroom in the main building that is guaranteed open. Granted there is a single upstairs bathroom open, but its not open all the time, its a chance. The science building bathroom is open, but only for students in the science building. If any student were to have to use the bathroom in emergency and were to run to the science building, they would then be written up. This is unacceptable. This is ridiculous. This needs to change. Every student wants to #PinPEACE. So help the Space Coast Students have access to the bathroom. Allow your student and others to not be harassed for having to go relieve themselves. This is also out of building code Per the 2023 Florida Building code, plumbing eighth edition, section 403.1 [table] it states that for Males and Females, there must be 1 water closet per 50. 1500/50 = 30. As in there must be 30 of those facilities accessible for all students at all times in which is not applicable for this high school. Therefore breaking building code
