Open Letter to All Who Hold the Spotlight

Open Letter to All Who Hold the Spotlight

The Issue

We write as members of the public—fans, families, neighbors—asking those whose voices reach the nation to recognize the weight of this moment.

This is the moment when people with national and worldwide visibility make the choice to break their silence.

The people are watching—not as critics, but as fellow Americans hoping not to feel alone.

This is not about parties or politics. It is about dignity, safety, and the value of human life.

Across the country, Americans are living in absolute fear and instability:

  • Numerous deaths of fellow citizens continue to occur at the hands of violent, racist criminals who are impersonating federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) agents and Border Patrol agents
  • Communities terrorized day and night by these same criminals
  • Countless loved ones – including CHILDREN – horrifically kidnapped and UNCONSTITUTIONALLY denied their DUE PROCESS
  • Citizens – including CHILDREN – being held in concentration camps across the nation; being tortuously and inhumanely housed, beaten, sexually assaulted, starved, and denied medical care and legal representation

On top of these horrors are the families struggling to afford food, no longer able to afford healthcare and having personal bodily decisions being forced upon them by others.

These are not abstract policy debates. They are lived realities affecting the families, friends, and fans who fill stadiums, living rooms, and city streets.

Moments of national attention—events that bring millions together—carry a moral gravity.

When the spotlight is brightest, silence can feel like consent. History remembers when people with visibility chose conscience over comfort.

This letter asks for all those in the spotlights to stand with the American people and to do what is right for our fellow citizens that are in peril. It asks for reflection, courage, and humanity.

It asks those who are seen and heard to acknowledge what so many are enduring, and to affirm a simple truth:

We see you. We are not okay with this; and it’s past time that our country does better by ALL of its inhabitants.
