Open Doors to Syrian Participants in European Solidarity Projects

Open Doors to Syrian Participants in European Solidarity Projects
The Issue
Open Doors to Syrian Participants in European Solidarity Projects
European Solidarity Corps Projects Exclude Young People from Syria. Accredited organizations that regularly host volunteers for long-term and short-term projects request the European Commission to change its stance and allow young people in Syria to join our projects.
We, the undersigned individuals and organizations, hereby submit this petition to express our strong support for the accreditated hosting organizations that wish to host participants from Syria in European Solidarity Projects. We firmly believe that opportunities for young people, regardless of their nationality, should not be limited or restricted due to political or international circumstances.
European Solidarity Projects have played a crucial role in fostering cross-cultural understanding, promoting cooperation, and empowering young people across Europe. These projects have provided valuable experiences, learning opportunities, and personal growth for participants from diverse backgrounds. However, we have noticed that the ongoing sanctions and geopolitical challenges have led to the exclusion of young people from Syria from these projects.
We firmly believe that young people from Syria should not be denied the chance to participate in European Solidarity Projects. They too deserve the opportunity to engage in activities that promote solidarity, tolerance, and inclusivity. By hosting Syrian participants, we can provide them with a platform to share their perspectives, experiences, and aspirations, thus contributing to a more diverse and enriching European solidarity community.
We also recognize that participants from Syria may face additional obstacles and fewer opportunities compared to other candidates. Therefore, we commit to providing tailored support to ensure that these participants can fully engage in our projects and benefit from the experiences offered.
We kindly request the relevant authorities responsible for accrediting hosting organizations for European Solidarity Projects to consider this petition. We believe that by opening the doors to young people from Syria, we can further enrich the projects and reinforce the core values of solidarity, diversity, and inclusion that these initiatives stand for.
Together, we can make European Solidarity Projects even more inclusive and impactful.
