To ensure that all families living in public housing dwelling are made safe and afforded the same housing safety codes and measures that privately owned rental units must comply with.

Safe, affordable housing for low income and minority families living in city owned housing without secondary exits to their home which would afford them increased and morally obligated rights to assist in the event of fire.  The protection and prevention of families whose lives may be lost within the confines of their home due to regulation which does not define or otherwise make mandatory that many public housing dwellings do not have secondary exits, fire escapes, regular fire evacuation trainings and practices to prevent loss of life in "death trap" apartments.
