The Prison Reform and the whole body of feminist research on Domestic Violence (DV) and Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) verifies what Jodie is saying is the truth. There is a strong correlation between females in prison/involved in the criminal justice system and neglect and sexual abuse in their childhood. Many women are in prison on drug offences, struggling with alcohol addiction because of child abuse and reoccurring victimisation, no supportive network and/or being let down by the criminal justice system when they disclosed their abuse as children. Jodie talks about how Eastwood Park Prison was overrun by females from Wales. Historically, South Wales police victim blamed child abuse victims. The Truth Recovery IICSA 6 year research evidence (published 1st February 2022) concurs with Jodie and Louise that South Wales police were not following procedures or prioritising protection towards child abuse victims. Police were often shaming child abuse victims referring to them as child prostitutes, suggesting that these children chose to be raped and exploited.
