SUBJECT:- REQUEST TO PROVIDE A PASSAGE ON RAILWAY TRACK ON K.K.P-FAZILKA RAIL SECTION AT MUKTSAR BETWEEN K.M. 32.20-32.30 NEAR RAILWAY CROSSING B/30 (WICH IS CLOSED) NEAR R.O.B. TOWARDS FAZILKA SIDE

Save Time, Improve Public Safety, and Restore Public Connectivity

 

The permanent closure of B/30 Railway Crossing on Jalalabad Road, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab has created severe hardship for thousands of residents, shopkeepers, students, senior citizens, patients, and daily commuters.

 

This railway crossing was an important link connecting Gandhi Nagar, Ghass Mandi Chowk, Bank Road, Gandhi Chowk, Sadar Bazar, Tibbi Sahib Road, Abohar Road, Factory Road, Guest House Road, Goniana Road, Mall Godam Road, and nearby localities.

 

After the construction of the Railway Over Bridge (ROB), the B-30 crossing was permanently closed. Although staircases and a new ticket counter have been provided, they do not offer a practical solution for many people. Elderly citizens, persons with disabilities, parents with children, cyclists, and those carrying goods continue to face serious difficulties. Many residents are forced to travel a much longer distance to reach places that were previously accessible through the crossing.

 

This has resulted in:

 

- Increased travel time.

- Higher fuel and transportation costs.

- Difficulty for students, workers, and shopkeepers.

- Inconvenience for elderly and differently abled persons.

- Delays in emergency movement.

- Reduced accessibility to important parts of the city.

 

We respectfully request the Ministry of Railways and Northern Railway to conduct a joint inspection with the Punjab Government and local authorities and consider the following:

 

1. Reopen the B-30 Railway Crossing if it can be done safely.

2. If reopening is not technically feasible, provide a safe and permanent pedestrian and light-vehicle underpass or an alternative service road connecting both sides.

3. Ensure convenient access to the railway station and nearby residential and commercial areas.

4. Hold public consultation with local residents before making permanent decisions affecting public movement.

5. LIKE OTHER CITIES IN PUNJAB WHERE R.O.B. IS CONSTRUCTED IN CITY AND FACING SAME ISSUE OF PASSAGE ON RAILWAY TRACK LINE PASSAGE WAS PROVIDED BY PUNJAB GOVERMENT AND RAILWAY ON THE SIDE OF R.O.B. LIKE (CITY NAME : PATIALA, BARNALA, FAZILKA)

 

This is not merely a demand for a railway crossing—it is a request for safe, convenient, and equitable access for the people of Sri Muktsar Sahib.
