We need a New principal at Ontario High School!

The Issue

 

I have never had so many negative encounters with an employee of a school as I have with Dr. Elizondo. I am disappointed, angered, saddened, frustrated, embarrassed, and just outright DONE dealing with it.   Every single year that my kids have been in school, we've had a bad experience with her both at school and around our community. 

  • 2021, after a year long shut down of school, we are finally given the ok  to open back up and get kids in the building.  Our High School's plan(under the leadership of Dr. Elizondo) is to stay online or stay online with some homework help in the morning before online classes start.   COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!  After the year we've all had, if you can't see that most kids NEED to be back in school, then you shouldn't be in education. 
  • 2019 my daughter was a junior and my son was a freshman they both were pulled into the office.  I didn't sign the parent release for Chromebook release.  Dr. Elizondo's plan to remedy that was to pull all those kids into the office and make them stay there until they called and got a hold of their parents.  I am a teacher and don't have my phone on me much less answer my phone while teaching.  My husband is a police officer and isn't always able to answer his phone either.  After sitting in the office for an hour my daughter called my school secretary and had her patch the call through on my classroom phone.  I told her I'd call the high school office on my lunch break in 15 minutes.  When I did they informed me that I hadn't signed the form for Chromebook release. I asked if she could fax it over to my school and I would sign them and fax it back.  That evening when we all get home, my son informed me that not only did he miss 2 periods of school but they made him miss his lunch break and they didn't even bring him anything.  He said, " Mom I had to sit there and watch the secretary eat her McDonald's."  I WAS FURIOUS!  My daughter missed 1 1/2 periods of school and my son missed 2 periods of school plus didn't get to eat all day because I didn't sign a release form for a Chromebook.  Completely UNNECESSARY!
  • 2019, Same year, again my son is a freshman in the OHS marching band.  It's fall homecoming and they're having a bonfire.  The band director has the band come together and then go down to the bonfire together as a band with him, their teacher.  Under Dr. Elizondo's command, no one is to be admitted without their school lanyard.  Well a couple of band members (including my son) didn't have theirs so the band was not permitted to go to the bonfire.  It seems to me that this could've been handled better in many ways.  A little common sense tells me that a bunch of kids with instruments and band attire WITH the band teacher IS actually the high school band and therefore poses no threat to the other people at the bonfire.  Again, completely UNNECESSARY!
  • 2018-19 and 2019-20, Several of my kid's most experienced teachers quit teaching at OHS because of how things are being run at the high school.
  • 2018, While at the DMV she walked right past my daughter and I twice without so much as a smile much less a hello.  During an event at our local Elks lodge again she looked directly at my husband and I then turned right back around. I have only ever seen her at a high school event when her own son was playing.  Other than that, I've never seen her at a game, concert, awards banquet, nothing. If you are the leader of a public school don't you think it's your job to be present?  Is it not your job to be personable to the students and parents in your school regardless if you like them or not?


There are more incidents to share from myself and other people in our community. I  have had several OHS teachers (former and present) share with me their negative stories as well.  Our kids and families deserve better.  Our community needs a new leader at OHS.  If you are frustrated as well and agree we need change, please sign.
