On many occasions people show up to their reserved campsite at the check-in time and the campsite is not vacated (either the people who previously occupied the site did not vacate or people occupied the vacant site without proper reservation). On many occasions when the park warden is contacted, the unregistered occupants are not fined or made to vacate the site. The registered guests are the ones that become inconvenienced by being told to wait or changed sites. Most of the time these reservations have been made up to 5 months prior and the guests often travel long distance.

This petition is to request Ontario Parks to:

1) Increase the $95 “Fail to vacate and remove property from campsite on permit expiry” and the $95 “Camp over time limit” fines to the same set $155 “Unlawfully occupy campsite” fine.

2) Have the Wardens enforce the “vacate” rules and to issue fines.

3) Have the Wardens vacate the site so the registered guests can have their chosen site.

This petition will be active for 60 days (until July 9, 2026) at which time it will be sent to Ontario Parks.
