The recent plan released by the Ontario government to deal with the huge backlog at DriveTest centres across the province is not enough. The current system of alternating weeks based on birthday does nothing to solve the backlog. People are having to book months in advance, and many are missing out on important activities, simply because DriveTest is closed. The Ontario government has failed to take into consideration the thousands of beginner drivers across the province, who are required to complete a drivers education course to receive an earlier booking. These drivers are unable to complete their hours, and there has been no information released on this matter in months. Secondly, the Ontario government and DriveTest have failed to recognize the thousands of people who have had a road test cancelled, or who have been unable to book a road test even if they were able to months ago. The government needs to recognize these people, and put in place a fair priority system, based on when the driver would have been able to receive their license. The current system is a free for all, and is not fair to anyone.
