Arrest breeder & remove all dogs from: Smith's Koniglich German Shepherds Jacksonville, NC
The Issue
2/5/2021: The Onslow co. DA's Office does not feel they have sufficient evidence to charge Heather Smith for animal cruelty! Please see statement in updates.
PETITION OBJECTIVE: We Implore Jacksonville, NC Animal Control and the DA's office to arrest/charge, Heather Smith of Smith's Koniglich German Shepherd's, with animal cruelty, seize all dogs from the property and close the breeding business. The fate of every dog on this property, lies in the hands of Onslow co. NC
STORY: On January 21st 2021 evidence shows a black German Shepherd named Raven, being abused by her owner/breeder during labor! You cannot unhear Raven's screams as her back is grabbed forcing her to the ground, her tail and legs abruptly pulled and finally receives a slap to the head. During this time, Ms. Smith also roughly administers an unknown injection, removes the water bowl as Raven pants and screams obscenities at her. The act of animal abuse is horrific. Abusing a dog already suffering the pain of natural labor and delivery is unspeakable. Raven isn't the only female on the property making money for Ms. Smith. Website lists: Raven, Eva, Maia, Gina, Izzy and Kona! After seeing the shocking video, it's easy to make the assumption the others could be experiencing horrible births with this breeder as well. It looked to common, comfortable, normal. Not that of a random act. Their website shows plans to breed Raven again, just six months later in June 2021. Are the other females being bred this often as well? How many litters is she maintaining at once on the property? Average dog carries for 63 days (2months). Nursing and weaning averages 8 weeks (2months) The dogs make her tons of money by staying pregnant, birthing, nursing and weaning 8 to 9 months a year! Then the abuse surfaced........In a news story dated 11/26/2019 Ms. Smith stated she has already been in the breeding business for 11 years. What we witnessed in the video is clearly abuse and she must be prosecuted!
