Every year, our pets, wildlife, and even vulnerable members of our communities suffer due to the uncontrolled use of loud fireworks.
We, the undersigned, are asking the government to ban the public sale of loud fireworks and allow only silent or low-noise fireworks to be sold for personal use.
Why This Matters
🐾 Animal Welfare:
Loud fireworks cause extreme fear and confusion in pets and wildlife. Dogs and cats panic and run away, horses injure themselves, and birds abandon their nests. The noise causes widespread suffering every year.
🧠 Human Health & PTSD:
For many people — including veterans, first responders, and individuals with PTSD or sensory conditions — the unpredictable explosions trigger severe anxiety and flashbacks. Everyone deserves peace in their own home.
🌿 Environmental Impact:
Fireworks release heavy metals, microplastics, and toxic chemicals into the air, harming ecosystems and adding to pollution. Silent fireworks and modern alternatives offer a safer, more sustainable choice.
😔 Constant Disturbance:
Because loud fireworks are inexpensive and easy to buy, communities endure weeks of sporadic explosions before and after major events. This disrupts sleep, frightens animals, and causes unnecessary stress for everyone.
Our Request
We urge the government to:
• Prohibit the public sale of loud, explosive fireworks
• Permit only silent or low-noise fireworks for public use
• Ensure licensed, professional displays meet strict noise and safety standards
