Don't Let the World's Most Endangered Wolf Go Extinct!

Don't Let the World's Most Endangered Wolf Go Extinct!
The Issue
We only have 2 weeks to save the world’s most endangered wolf from extinction! The red wolf once ranged throughout the United States, but due to persecution and habitat loss, there are only 100 of these native predators left today, in small parts of Eastern North Carolina. The only reason we have any at all is because the US Fish and Wildlife Service started the Red Wolf Recovery Program in the late 1980’s to help bring these vital animals back from extinction.
This program has been described as one of the most successful endangered species reintroduction programs in history, but the US Fish and Wildlife Service is now being pressured by anti-wolf groups to terminate it! This week, the Service suddenly announced that it will evaluate the program, potentially ending it depending on its results. This hasty and poorly-timed evaluation was deliberately announced on extremely short notice in order to make it more difficult for citizens to speak up for our nation’s rarest wolf.
The cancellation of this program would give the red wolf the dubious distinction of being the first species declared extinct in the wild twice, and eliminate the last ray of hope for this rare species. It would also make 38 years of hard conservation work be for nothing!
By signing this petition, you'll submit a public comment to the US Fish and Wildlife Service, urging them NOT to discontinue their critical red wolf recovery program! For even more of an impact, please fill out the USFW's official survey of public attitudes towards the program. But hurry, because the comment window closes in two weeks!
The fate of the world’s only wild population of red wolves is in our hands. Don't let them down.
