One stop retrofit shops at November’s Meeting

The Issue

Dear Cllr Wayne Major and Caroline Toplis,

We note that at the July Improvement and Scrutiny committee – Climate Change, Biodiversity and Carbon Reduction minute 27/22 reads in part “that officers (will) provide a briefing paper (for the November meeting) to committee members about decarbonising Derbyshire’s homes and comment on the feasibility of setting up a ‘One-Stop Retrofit Shop’ to support residents wishing to take steps to retrofit their homes.’

We the undersigned think the proposition of a One Stop Retrofit Shop pulls together all the elements vital towards the wide-scale adoption of measures for warmer, greener homes, fit for the future, across Derbyshire.  The concept would combine all the technical abilities, expert advice, specialist materials, pointers for finance, how-to guides and technical data needed to achieve a professional and effective home retrofit.

We very much hope that the attached briefing paper on the ‘One-Stop Retrofit Shop’ will represent a strong common sense and practical approach to future-proofing homes, improving health and comfort while reducing domestic greenhouse gases.

With Derbyshire’s housing stock being so un-fit for the future, it is urgent that the feasibility of One Stop Retrofit Shops is investigated, while the broader scoped consultation is ongoing.

We hope to receive your feedback in the near future.
