One Piece Theme Park - South Africa

The Issue

The One Piece Netflix live-action series is filmed in Cape Town, South Africa.

South Africans driving past Cape Town Studios for the past year or so, have enjoyed seeing the Thousand Sunny on the horizon, knowing that a piece of anime history is being created in South Africa - a strange but satisfying badge of honour.

Especially considering South Africa, historically, has been forgotten by anime: a small country in the Southern Hemisphere, left off of the international anime map, but despite that, with a massive and ever-growing anime fandom.

Despite anime's cold shoulder, South African fans have always stayed true, and despite being under-served in the market, have gone above and beyond to find ways to express their fandom, in any way possible (one just has to look at the massive cosplay culture to get an idea of the fandom's size).

FINALLY, AN OPPORTUNITY HAS APPEARED:

With FILMING WRAPPED on the live-action One Piece series, with post-production (as well as a possible second season) pending, and the One Piece set pieces and props hanging in limbo - WHAT BETTER TIME THAN NOW to re-purpose the ALREADY-BUILT ONE PIECE SET PIECES into South Africa's very first LIMITED-TIME ANIME THEME PARK!!!!

We can't think of a better anime than ONE PIECE to have this honour and to be a pioneer for anime in SOUTH AFRICA!

WE'RE CALLING ON ALL ANIME FANS:

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR ANIME IN SOUTH-AFRICA & SIGN THIS PETITION to have the NETFLIX One Piece set turned into a LIMITED-TIME THEME PARK for fans across South Africa!

WE'RE CALLING ON NETFLIX & PRODUCTION

DON'T LET A GOOD PRODUCTION SET GO TO WASTE!!!

And show your support for the South African entertainment industry, as well as the South African anime fandom, while at the same time creating PR BUZZ around the production & premiere of the series.

LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

LET'S BRING A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME ONE PIECE EXPERIENCE TO SOUTH AFRICA!
